Cotswold weekend retreat
Nestled within the rolling landscape of the Cotswolds, this tranquil countryside retreat was designed as a warm and restorative weekend home for the client, offering a peaceful escape from busy city life during the week. The project combined interior architecture and FF&E design to create a home that feels both grounded in its natural surroundings and elevated in its sense of comfort and understated luxury.
At its heart, the project focused on uniting two previously separate residences into one cohesive family home. A new dining room was constructed as a glass link, creating a seamless architectural connection that floods the centre of the property with light. The removal of a mezzanine level brought openness and height to the main living space, while a double-sided fireplace was introduced to create a striking focal point that connects both the living area and the entrance hall, bringing warmth and visual continuity throughout.
The interior embraces an earthy palette inspired by the surrounding landscape, enriched with natural textures of oak, stone, linen, and wool. Bold accents of colour were introduced to bring freshness and individuality, adding moments of charm that reflect the home’s country chic sensibility. The result is a space that feels inviting and characterful, perfectly balanced between rural comfort and refined elegance.
